Blackmagic releases DaVinci Resolve 18.6.1

2 minute read

There are some welcome tweaks for the latest point release of Blackmagic's DaVinci Resolve, and, as ever, there’s some useful stuff in there for many users. And plenty of dead bugs.

The latest version of DaVinci Resolve and Resolve Studio dropped earlier today, and, while it is short of headline-grabbing new features as you would expect for a point release, Blackmagic's agile dev team are always making valuable new additions somewhere in its code.

Cloud workflows have gotten a bit of attention here, with the software now defaulting to prefer proxies for both single and multi-user projects. And a bug that affected cloud sync with projects updating from DaVinci Resolve 18.5 has been thankfully squashed.

The new update also fixes annoying timeline delays when ripple editing, improves playback when editing or moving clips, and provides better multichannel audio importing. In addition, there are improvements in showing the current timeline and better system stability when working with 3D text.

In fact, alongside the usual ubiquitous 'general performance and stability improvements'  and some handy improvement of in or out point behaviour in the transcription window, many of the entries in the list below start with 'Addressed issue...'. So, that's plenty of bugs getting their comeuppance. Have a read of the full list below, below which we've also put the new updates in Fusion Studio 18.6.1.
