Mitakon announces Speedmaster 20mm/35mm/50mm S35 T1 cine lens set

Zhongyi Optics has unveiled the new Mitakon Speedmaster set of 20mm, 35mm, and 50mm S35 cine lenses at an aggressive $499 each.

There is a lot of lens activity coming out of China at the moment as manufacturers continue to push against the price/performance barrier, as exemplified by the latest trio of Mitakon Speedmaster 20mm/35mm/50mm S35 T1 lenses that have been announced by Zhongyi Optical with immediate availability.

Probably the headline feature is the price: either $499 each or available as a set for a very competitive $1299, which also boasts a hard case as well as the $200 discount. Beyond that the spec looks good too.

All three have that fast T1 aperture, a focus throw of 270 degrees, and 9 aperture blades for what the company claims is ‘silky soft’ bokeh. The 20mm lens features 13 elements in 8 groups, while the 35mm & 50mm lenses step that down to 11 elements in 8 groups. A unified gear position across the set ensures that switching between lenses goes as smoothly as possible.

All three are available in Sony E, Nikon Z, Fuji X, and Canon RF mounts.
