DJI's stunning 1000-drone light show

1 minute read

If you think you've seen drone light shows before, wait till you have a look at this one DJI put together for the 43rd World Food Day.

Not sure how you all feel about this, but personally drone light shows have never really wowed us much here. Sure, technically they're impressive, but compared to the sheer percussive and poetic painterliness of a fireworks display, they haven't really hit the mark as yet.

But, it turns out that if you want to create something truly spectacular with drones, you just need to use a lot of them. 1000 or thereabouts, to be precise.

DJI drones do a lot of work in the agricultural sector and cover 988 million acres in 100 countries over six continents, so its involvement in promoting water conservation as part of the 43rd FAO World Food Day makes perfect sense. Nevertheless, the inaugural performance of what is apparently known as the DJI Firefly Project really is something else. Have a look below. Even if it's just ultimately a corporate promo for its Agras drone, it definitely leaves us hoping the company has a few more of these planned.
